Where can I find additional information about ALL Kids?
Does my child qualify?
ALL Kids covers eligible children that live in Alabama. Children must also:
- be under age 19.
- be a U.S. citizen or an eligible immigrant.
- not be covered under any health insurance*.
- not be a resident in an institution.
- not be eligible for dependent coverage under state or public school employees’ insurance.
- not be covered by or eligible for Medicaid.
* Please note that if group health insurance is voluntarily dropped by the parent or guardian, there is a three-month waiting period before child may apply for ALL Kids. Exclusions to this waiting period are:
- termination of coverage from COBRA, Alabama Child Caring Program and private/nongroup insurance.
- in situations where private insurance is cancelled because the child has exhausted lifetime benefits.
What are the income eligibility guidelines?
Eligibility determination can only be made when a complete application is received by ALL Kids. Please note, even if your income falls outside of these guidelines, you may still be eligible for coverage.

How do I check the status of my application or renewal?
To check the status of your application or renewal, you can call the ALL Kids Customer Service automated phone line at 1-888-373-KIDS (5437), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a free call.
When your call is answered, press 2, and then follow the instructions. You will need either your own Social Security Number or the Social Security Number of the child that is applying for enrollment or renewal.
How does the ALL Kids application process work?
Applications are processed in the order they are received. If your child is enrolled in ALL Kids, you will receive a Welcome Letter from ALL Kids and your child’s All Kids Card.
How long will coverage last?
Your child’s ALL Kids enrollment will last for 12 months. (If your child turns 19 years of age before the end of the 12 months, coverage will end the last day of the child’s birth month.)
What types of changes need to be reported?
ALL Kids needs to be able to keep in touch with you while your child is enrolled. Contact ALL Kids immediately if any of these change:
- your address
- your name or your child's name
- your phone number
To report a change, call ALL Kids toll-free at 1-888-373-KIDS (5437), Monday through Friday, to talk to one of the ALL Kids Customer Service Representatives.
How do I apply?
ALL Kids shares an application with SOBRA Medicaid, MLIF and Plan First. The program(s) for which you and/or your children qualify will be determined by your family size and income. APHCA can help you apply.

When you call our free and confidential hotline, you’ll be connected directly to someone that can give you information on the programs available in Alabama. Our staff will help you decide whether your child might be eligible and help you complete the application. In some cases, they will walk you through the on line application, tell you where you can go to apply or offer to send you an application in the mail.
ALL Kids uses Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBSAL) to provide medical and mental health and substance abuse services through their preferred provider network (PPO).
